CHIEF JUDGE EXTOLS OBI AT COMMISSIONING OF JUDGES’ QUARTERS

In what appears to be a fulfillment of Governor Peter Obi’s promise to bring revolution to Anambra State through execution of critical projects, the Governor yesterday handed over to the State Judiciary, the ultra modern residential quarters built for them at Onitsha.

Receiving the keys to the 6 Nos 5-bedroom duplexes buildings with boys quarters and gate houses, which cost the State N242,913,994.00 Million Naira, the Chief Judge of Anambra State, His Lordship Hon. Justice Peter Umeadi said that the judiciary in the State had never had it so good. He said that the hand over represented the first time Anambra State was witnessing such a gesture since the State was created 22 years ago.

Speaking further he said that what was most gratifying was that Governor Peter Obi was doing all these things for the judiciary without directly or indirectly interfering with the working of that arm of government.

Justice Umeadi recalled that just a few days ago, the governor visited him in his office at Awka to look at the court premises with the aim of determining their needs and how the government will help them. He said that the joy of all Anambrarains was that beyond the judiciary, the Governor was working in all sectors. He assured the people of the state that the improvement will translate into better dispensation of justice in the State. For better and quicker dispensation of justice, he said a new Judiciary Division was in the process of bring created.

While handing over the keys to the Chief Judge, the Governor said that it was in line with ANIDS strategy of working in all sectors simultaneously for ultimate benefit of the people of the State. He revealed that more quarters for the judiciary will be built at Awka and assured that he would deliver that before leaving office.

The governor said the support for the judiciary was borne out of the realization that a functional judiciary was necessary for peace and order in the society.
