Don Jazzy donates N1m to OJB, calling on other artistes to please do same

Don Jazzy has got to be the most generous Nigerian celebrity ever. A few weeks ago he gave a mutual friend of ours who has kidney issues, N1million. I kinda asked the guy to ask Don Jazzy, and a few days later, he calls me to say IDJA gave him N1m. And today I found out that he has also donated N1million to prolific music producer, OJB Jezreel. He did it quietly a few days back but when I found out, well, I just had to share it. And let's not forget the N2million he gave cancer patient Funmi Lawal last year and many things I hear he does very quietly. God bless him. Also, thanks to Ruggedman who has also donated to OJB.

Now calling on other artists to please do same. OJB Jezreel needs N15million for a kidney transplant in India. This guy has done so much for music in Nigeria and had helped so many Nigerian artists achieve success. Now is the time to give back.

To donate, see the account details: Babatunde Okungbowa. UBA - 1015075120. Thanks

"I really really loved Iyanya '- Yvonne Nelson reveals in new interview

The Ghanaian actress had a very revealing interview with Bella Naija today where she opened up about her relationship with Iyanya and how much he hurt her. Excerpts:
BN: How long did the two of you date and how would you describe the relationship?
YN: We dated for 7 to 8 months. We had something and I thought it was special, like he was a wonderful guy but it was all lies. He had other girls and other things he was doing. Aside the actress that was in the picture, there were a lot more. That is how bad it is. We were in a relationship and he lied throughout and he was able to do all those things because I wasn’t living in Nigeria. But aside from the distance, I feel if you’re a genuine person and you’re loyal, you would still not do that.
BN: Is this actress you’re talking about actually Tonto Dikeh?
YN: I feel it’s disrespectful to start mentioning other people’s names. I am talking about Iyanya because we had a thing, I don’t want to bring in a third person. There were a lot of names that people know. There was a girl from South Africa, I’m not going to mention names but she was part of Big Brother Africa last year.
More when you continue...

BN: Most people only got to know that you and Iyanya were dating after you broke up. Were you deliberately being secretive about it?
YN: I also don’t believe in putting my relationships in the faces of people. We both had our careers and were trying to protect our fan base and that’s cool. But if you go through my Instagram page, you’d see a couple of pictures of us together. I wasn’t shy about anything but he could not say he’s dating Yvonne Nelson because he had different people he was seeing so it was very hard for him to bring it out.

BN: What did the experience teach you?
YN: There are some things that you don’t get to learn in school; people can’t advice you, you won’t even listen. You just have to experience it to learn. I have no regrets that I went through it, it would have happened anyway. We are all human beings. We fall in love once in a while but if it doesn’t work out, that’s OK.

BN: Have you moved on since then?
YN: I have! It happened last year but I’ve moved on. I’ve been working hard, been producing movies. I still listen to his music, I love his album. I love the Track 1 with MI and I love, ‘I Got It’. He is a very talented guy, I always have goose bumps on my body when he sings.

BN: Aside from the music, what else was the attraction?
YN: You can’t really explain when you love somebody. It’s everything. It was just something that I felt and I can’t explain. It was love, I really really loved him and he knows that.
BN: How do you feel about him now and what message would you like to pass on to him if you had the chance?
YN: Iyanya is such an amazing person but I just feel he needs to be more honest and be a man of his words. It’s not good if he takes advantage of women. My Mum always says any man who takes advantage of women won’t end up well. It’s Karma, it’s going to come back to you. He should treat women fairly and he should be an honest person. It’s been a while though, I haven’t seen him. He is doing amazing things in his career and I wish him luck.

Yvonne Nelson - I Broke-up With Iyanya Because He's A Liar -

Late last year, rumor started that Ghanaian actress/model, Yvonne Nelson, was dating Nigerian singer, Kukere master, Iyanya, and broke up with him because he cheated on her with Nollywood colleague, Tonto Dikeh.

Yvonne never said a word since the rumor. She only wrote on her twitter handler

"Thought you were the one but I guess all you wanted was to date an actress...There you go, enjoy dating the 2nd actress... moved on player *wink". continue to read interview.

Guys here is the shot the Ghanaian screen goddess threw at Iyanya*

How do you feel about him now and what message would you like to pass on to him if you had the chance?

DSS rescues 16 pregnant women from Aba baby factory

The pregnant women paraded by DSS, yesterday.

UMUAHIA — THE Abia  State Command of Directorate of State Service, DSS, has rescued 16 pregnant girls from a ‘baby factory’ in Aba. Parading the young girls, yesterday, in his Umuahia office, the state Director of DSS, Mr. Matthew Obodoechi, said the girls and women whose ages range between 17 and 37 were rescued on June 17, 2013.
The pregnant women paraded by DSS, yesterday.
Obodoechi gave the name of the home as Cross Foundation International, located along Anyamele Street in Umungasi area of Aba.
According to Obodoechi, proprietor of the home, Dr. Hyginus Ndudim Orikara, has been arrested. He vowed that the medical practitioner would be prosecuted.
Ironically, the medical doctor is said to be in the employ of Abia State Government, which has been actively involved in the fight against the “baby factory” menace in the state.
The DSS director expressed worry that menace of baby factory was fast becoming a new crime trend in some South-East states.
He said: “It is another kind of kidnapping where babies are snatched at point of birth and sold. It is a big shame, a big problem and it all boils down to the kind of values we have in the society today. Life is not valued.”
Dr Orikara, however, denied running a baby factory, saying, his Cross Foundation was legitimately registered as a charity home.
He said babies were not sold after delivery but released to go and nurse them, explaining that the charity home witnessed large number of girls because “we are running operation nurse your own baby.”
According to him, girls with unwanted pregnancy are brought to the home for them to be encouraged and assisted to carry their pregnancies to full term, deliver and nurse the babies.
But Obodoechi dismissed Orikara’s claim, insisting that confessional statement by the pregnant ladies showed that the doctor was indeed engaged in the baby factory business.
According to him, “the ladies upon delivery are given a paltry sum of N50,000 and sent away while their babies are sold to people from different parts of the country.”
He noted with regret that some persons had chosen to hide under the cover of non-governmental organisations, NGOs, to perpetrate various forms of illegal activities, including baby factories.
He said: “Those hiding under the cover of NGOs to perpetrate modern form of slave trade are warned to abstain from such illegalities as security agencies will stop at nothing to ensure that they are apprehended and made to face the law.”

Hezbollah: Jonathan met our leader at Aso Rock, Lebanese suspects tell Court

A Delegation From From Left, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Dammajen Kano, President Goodluck Jonathan, Alhaji Ahmed Ado Bayero, Dan Buram Kano during a visit to President Photos--State House.

Three suspected Lebanese terrorists, Mustapha Roda Darwish Fawaz, Talal Roda, and Abdulla Tahini, alleged to have imported arms into the country  yesterday, told a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja that a prominent member of their group identified as, Hussein Hajj once met and shook hands with President Goodluck Jonathan.
The suspects, including the co-owner of Amigo Supermarket and Wonderland resort in Abuja, Fawaz, who were alleged to be members of Hezbollah terrorist organisation, further told the court that the large cache of arms recovered from them by the Military Joint Task Force, JTF, were mere hunting-riffles, insisting that the Nigerian government has no right to curtail their fundamental human rights on the allegation that they constitute threat to its national security.

A Delegation From From Left, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Dammajen Kano, President Goodluck Jonathan, Alhaji Ahmed Ado Bayero, Dan Buram Kano during a visit to President Photos–State House.
The weapons recovered from a bunker at  3 Gaya Road, off Bompai Street, Kano, following a search by a combined team of the JTF including soldiers from 3-Brigade and the Department of State Services, DSS, on the bunker, included anti-tank weapons, rocket-propelled guns, anti-tank/anti-personnel mines among other dangerous weapons.
According to the security operatives that conducted the search, the arms and ammunition were properly concealed with several layers of concrete and placed in coolers, drums and bags neatly wrapped.
Meantime, the accused persons have urged the court to not only order their immediate release from the custody of the DSS,  but to award them cost to the tune of N50billion, adding that contrary to allegation against them that their organisation was a terrorist group, Hezbollah is a political party in Lebanon.
Counsel to the accused persons,  Mr Ahmed Raji, SAN, produced pictures before the court showing where the said leading member of the organization, Dr Hussein Hajj, met with President Jonathan at the Aso Rock Villa, contending that the Nigerian government abused their right when it earlier dragged them before a Chief Magistrate Court in Karu, which they said lacked the competence to try them.
Meantime, the Federal Government, yesterday, asked the High Court to dismiss the plaintiff’s suit as grossly lacking in merit, saying it has uncovered more evidence to prove that the suspects belong to the military wing of Hezbolla which it described as a terrorist organization.
Counsel to the government, Mr Clifford Osagie, informed the court that the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke, SAN, has already entered a fresh six-count terrorism charge against them before the Federal High Court.
Osagie said, “We have proofs that the applicants belong to the military wing of Hezbolla which is a terrorist organization and in the coming days, this country will know more about them. The applicants had in their affidavit attached pictures of someone who was shaking hands with President Jonathan saying the President knew he was a member of Hezbollah. If they could do that, then why have they failed to attach the register of membership of Hezbollah as a political party?
“Likewise, we urge this court to disregard their argument that what were recovered from them were hunting-riffles. What we found were assorted weapons of terror and prohibited fire arms. They are people who hunt human beings and terrorists do so!
“Even if, without conceding that they were Air or Hunting- Riffles, our animals are protected in this country.  I do not know about their own country. Besides, they need to tell this court where they have gone hunting in this country. They want to kill us. They hunt human beings. They need to show this court that they have license for such deadly weapons.”
Relying on the case of Dokubo Asari Vs FRN, Osagie, maintained that where national security is in question, individual rights take second place.
“This is a case where the security of Nigeria has been called to question by individuals who have benefited so much from this country; who have made immense wealth from the liberality of this nation. The activities of the applicants threaten the national security of Nigeria and the corporate existence of this country. They cannot lift up their fundamental human rights as the basis to breach national security. The Attorney General, on June 20, 2013,  filed a six- count charge against them. Once the case is assigned and a date fixed for arraignment, their trial will commence.
“We therefore urge this court to dismiss this application in its entirety as being of no substance, frivolous and intended to pervert the course of justice. It is not in the interest of Nigeria or our national security. It lacks merit,” he added.
Meantime, the trial judge, Justice Ademola Adeniyi has adjourned the case till Monday to enable counsel to the applicants reply on points of law to the arguments of the Federal Government, even as he ordered that the suspects be remanded in the custody of the DSS.
Government had in its affidavit against the suit, maintained that “Mustapha Fawaz (2nd respondent) was arrested on May 11, 2013. His residences at Wonderland Amusement Park, Abuja, and 58 Adetokumbo Ademola Street Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, were duly searched in the course of which prohibited firearms and other incriminating items were discovered. A copy of the duly endorsed search warrant and pictures of the said firearms are hereby exhibited and marked exhibits 1 and 1(A-D) respectively.
“That further investigation led to the arrest of Abdullah Tahini (1st respondent) on May 12, 2013 at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, on his way to Egypt en route Lebanon. He was found to be in possession of  $61, 170.”
The government further told the court that “On May 26, 2013, the  3 Gaya Road, Nasarawa Local Government Area,  Kano residence of one Ahmed Hassan Taher, a relative of the 2nd respondent  (now at large) was searched. At the material time, Talal Roda (3rd respondent) and a suspect in the unfolding investigation was found in the house. He was arrested in the course of the search which was conducted in his presence as he had access to the hidden recesses discovered in the premises.
“A further search of the Kano residence led to the discovery of large cache of sophisticated weapons and weapons of mass destruction. It was a war arsenal. A copy of the duly endorsed search warrant executed on the residence as well as pictures of the discovered prohibited arms are exhibited and marked exhibits 2.

Boy Kills Sister Using Wrestling Moves on her

Viloude Louis, who was allegedly killed by her 13-year-old brother when he performed wrestling moves on her that he had seen on TV.

Vilger Louis talks about his daughter Viloude, dead after suffered multiple injuries after her half-brother allegedly beat her.

A young teen beat his little half-sister to death using wrestling moves he’d copied from the TV, police claim. Devalon Armstrong, 13, is accused of repeatedly slamming Viloude Louis, 5, onto a bed, punching her in the stomach, jumping on her back and elbow-dropping into her kidneys. She suffered broken ribs, internal bleeding and liver lacerations from the brutal bashing at their Terrytown, Louisiana, home.

Cops said that Armstrong was babysitting his younger sibling on Sunday afternoon when he decided to test out some moves he’d seen on World Wrestling Entertainment. Later complaining of having a stomach ache, she went upstairs to brush her teeth — before being found by her brother 30 minutes later in crippling pain on the bathroom floor. Realizing she was no longer breathing, Armstrong took her downstairs to the sofa and dialed 911.

Paramedics arrived on the scene but found her unresponsive.  She was pronounced dead soon after. As there were no outward signs of injury, Louis’s death was at first deemed “unclassified.”

But a coroner’s report released on Tuesday found she had died of multiple injuries.

Diddy Talks Cable Deal; Will It Make Him A Billionaire? Forbes

Diddy Readies Cable Revolt on Time Warner
You started learning how to count right, I see,” explained Sean “Diddy” Combs to Forbes earlier today, likely referring to our latest estimate that placed his net worth at $580 million. “Thank God!”

But he was calling from France to talk about something else—a venture that could one day make him a billionaireRevolt TV. Diddy is the network’s majority shareholder, and just announced a carriage deal with Time Warner Cable (TWC). That means his network will have over 25 million subscribers when it debuts this fall, he says, the biggest launch in history behind only Oprah Winfrey’s OWN and perhaps one other.

“Revolt is the first network that’s being launched in the social medial age,” he said. “Multi-screen, multi-platform, from mobile to digital.”

[More from Forbes.com: The Forbes Five: Hip-Hop’s Wealthiest Artists]

So will Revolt make Diddy a billionaire? Perhaps not immediately, but there’s a good chance down the line. Cable networks are notoriously difficult to launch. The field is crowded, and established players don’t like ceding ground to newcomers. But Diddy seems to have found a way. In February 2012, Comcast (CMCSA) agreed to distribute Revolt–along with three other minority-owned independent networks—to the 10 million homes it reaches. The Time Warner deal should push Revolt past the 20 million threshold. And if Diddy can indeed hit 25 million, he’ll have more than a quarter of MTV ’s audience.

Once in the door, the economics of cable television can be extremely favorable to network owners. SNL Kagan estimates that cable companies pay MTV $0.43 per month per subscriber, which works out to just over $5 per year, or about $500 million in annual revenues. And Diddy is more than happy to challenge the original music network.

[More from Forbes.com: Hip-Hop's 20 Top Earners]

“Since MTV stopped playing music videos … it’s left this gaping hole and an opportunity to create not just a network or a channel but an audience company,” he said. “That’s what I like to call Revolt: an audience company that specializes in Millennials. And the number one thing that Millennials like is music, and the number one thing I specialize in is music.”

Turning a profit may prove difficult in the early going, but a well-oiled network can generate margins in excess of 25%. So, some back-of-the-envelope math: say Revolt manages $4 per subscriber per year. That works out to $100 million in sales, and perhaps $25 million in profit. Apply a 15x earnings multiple, and you get a valuation of $375 million for the network.

Diddy wouldn’t disclose the precise nature of his stake, saying only that it was more than half. Even if it’s 51%, he’s looking at a potential net worth bump of nearly $200 million on paper when Revolt goes live. If he doubles his subscriber base over the next few years, the math says he’ll be a billionaire. A tall order, to be sure, but that’s Diddy’s specialty.

“All I try to do is build the maximum value for my companies,” he explained. “At the end of the day, the numbers don’t lie. I’m just like any other businessman; at the end of the year I have to get my report card and deal with the reality of whatever it is.”

[More from Forbes.com: The World’s 25 Highest-Paid Musicians 2012]

As for the possibility of sending his net worth into ten-figure territory?

“I don’t want my career to be defined on this, that I was quote-unquote a billionaire,” he said. “But to be honest, I’d be blessed to be a billionaire … hopefully someday it’ll come true and I’ll be able to do some good with it.”
