A Twitter campaign using the hashtag #BringBackOurGirls has focused global attention on the plight of some 276 Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped by the Islamic militant group Boko Haram. 3 photos of girls have been posted and reposted thousands of times, including by the BBC and by the singer Chris Brown One problem: The photos are of girls from Guinea-Bissau, more than 1,000 miles from Nigeria, who have no relationship to the kidnappings. The use of these pictures raises troubling questions of representation, and misrepresentation. Ami Vitale, the photographer who made the original images as part of a long-term project, spoke with nytimes on Thursday. See excerpts.
She was interviewed by New York Times Lens Blog Co-Editor and Senior Staff Photographer James Estrin
Q. Tell me about the photos.
A. There were three photos that were taken from either my website or the Alexia Foundation website, and someone made these images the face of the campaign. But these photos had nothing to do with the girls who were kidnapped and sexually trafficked. There are many times when I get upset when people take my photos without permission, but this isn’t about that. I support the campaign completely and I would do anything to bring attention to the situation. It’s a beautiful campaign that shows the power of social media. This is a separate issue.
This is about misrepresentation.
These photos have nothing to do with those girls who were kidnapped. These girls are from Guinea-Bissau, and the story I did was about something completely different. They have nothing to do with the terrible kidnappings. Can you imagine having your daughter’s image spread throughout the world as the face of sexual trafficking? These girls have never been abducted, never been sexually trafficked.
This is misrepresentation.
Ami Vitale's picture
One of three girls who were photographed by Ami Vitale in Guinea-Bissau in 2000 and whose images have been used — without permission — in the online campaign raising awareness of the recent kidnappings in Nigeria.
I know these girls. I know these families, and they would be really upset to see their daughters’ faces spread across the world and made the face of a terrible situation. The photos were taken from two separate stories. I was there in 1993, in 2000 and then in 2011 for the Alexia Foundation. I lived there for six months, learned the language, learned about their lives and became very close to all the people in these pictures.
Q. What was the story?
A. I wanted to put a human face on conflict. But when I got there my story changed. Because I realized the way Africa is generally portrayed in mainstream media is either wars, famine or stories like this terrible abduction. You see the horrors or the other extreme, beautiful safaris and exotic animals. There’s nothing in between. So it’s ironic the story I was telling was that there is a beautiful world that lies between these two truths.
Why don’t we ever tell these stories that show the dignity and resilience of these people? And this is why I feel so enraged, because I was trying to not show them as victims. They are not victims. Using these images and portraying them as victims is not truthful. The story I did was a hopeful story.
Q. Tell me about the girls.
A. The picture of the girl outside the school was the image used most frequently. The girl’s name is Jenabu Balde, and she is a cousin of the family I lived with. Umou Balde is her mother and she is a dear friend. I lived with them and went back in 2011 to visit them. The point of the story was to show that the girls were going to school and life was getting better in many ways.
Q. How did you learn the pictures had been misappropriated?
A. Eileen Mignoni from the Alexia Foundation spotted this first, and the whole board of the foundation was very quick to respond. Mickey H. Osterreicher [a lawyer with the National Press Photographers Association] has been incredibly helpful as well, citing the legal issues and ramifications.
Q. How do you feel that someone found it acceptable to substitute these girls for the Nigerian girls who were abducted?
A. This is personal. Even if they weren’t dear friends, it’s the principle. We can’t pick up any photo and use it out of context. I can’t help but wonder that they thought this was O.K. just because my friends are from Africa. If it were white people from another country in the photos, this wouldn’t be considered acceptable.
Q. What was your arrangement with the subjects of your story? A. I feel a sense of responsibility to the people I photograph. I go into communities and I make a promise that I will be responsible with their images and that I will deliver the message that they articulate to me. We are responsible as photographers and journalists when we make promises to do justice to their stories and honor them in the way that they have honored us by sharing their stories. I need to follow through with this one.
Q. How are you following through?
A. I spent my whole day Wednesday trying to track down the people who are spreading these images. I tweeted back to scores of people asking them to remove the photos. The BBC and Chris Brown retweeted it and it was everywhere. At first the woman from the BBC refused to take it down because it was already out there in the Twittersphere, But after a long exchange they removed it. Chris Brown did not respond.

abiru Sokoto moved to Kirikiri, rejects prison food

The mastermind of Mandala bomb blast, Kabiru Sokoto has been moved to the Maximum Security Prison, Kirikiri, Lagos, DailyPost has learnt.
Sokoto, who was sentenced to life imprisonment by an Abuja Federal High Court for his role in terrorist activities, including the December 25, 2011 bombing of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Mandala, Niger State in December was yesterday moved to the high walls of the Kirikiri Prison amid tight security.
The Federal government did not give any reason for its action, but sources squealed that their decision to moved the sect kingpin from Abuja might not be unconnected to the ongoing activities of the terror group in the region.
A reliable insider further hinted DailyPost that since Sokoto arrived the prison, he has not spoken to anybody or eaten food, an action that has stirred worries among prison warders.
“He refused to talk or eat. We don’t know what his plan is but we pray he doesn’t have any bad intention,” the visibly worried insider further hinted our reporter.
Before meeting his waterloo, the convict was the leader of Boko Haram in Sokoto State. This was according to evidence that emerged in the course of his trial, which lasted six months.
Justice Adeniyi Ademola found him guilty of facilitating terrorist activities in Sokoto State, and having prior knowledge of the bomb attack at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, zuba.
Kabiru Sokoto, who was finally apprehended by the operatives of the State Security Service in the Borno State Governor’s Lodge in Abuja after escaping from the custody of the police was arraigned by the Federal Government on April 19, 2013 on a two count charge bordering on terrorism.  SOURCE

Boko Haram: Group links northern elders with schoolgirls’ kidnap

Weeping parents of the abducted schoolgirls

A group on Monday alleged that elders in the North were behind the kidnap of the female pupils of the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State.

The group, United Alliance, in a statement by its northern co-ordinator, Bashir Ado, said the abduction of the school girls was part of the agenda of the northern elders to embarrass President Goodluck Jonathan.

Ado, who spoke ahead of Wednesday’s planned protest by women in the Federal Capital Territory to press for the release of the kidnapped Chibok  girls, said the protesters should not direct their grievance at the President, saying Jonathan had nothing to do with the disappearance of the girls.

He said, “The disappearance of the girls is part of the Northern elders agenda to embarrass and distract the Goodluck Jonathan government.

“They deliberately took the girls away to create an impression of insecurity and paint the picture that nobody is safe in the country, whereas they are the architect of these self- inflicting wounds aimed at distracting the government”

The group also said the authorities of the kidnapped girls’ school should be questioned for defying an earlier order of the Federal Government that schools in the area should shut down.

It said the school authorities “deliberately ignored the government’s directive.”

It said, “There was an initial instruction to school authorities in the area to evacuate students from schools because of insecurity and the parents were aware of this. Why then would the authorities of the school refuse to yield to such sensitive instruction if there was no pre-conceived agenda to lash on the perceived state of insecurity to organise the kidnap of their own children and put the blame at the doorstep of the Federal Government.

“The co-ordinated media interviews the mothers of the alleged missing girls have been granting showed that a script is being acted.

“It is high time our leaders in the North come to terms with the reality that this self inflicting havoc will continue to deplete the value of Northerners and eventually rub us of our place in the Nigerian nation.”

News: “These Girls Are Not Missing”, Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo Says After 24-Hour Visit To Chibok

Controversial daughter of a former Governor of Oyo State, Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo claims to be an investigative journalist who has gone to Chibok in Borno State, the place where over 200 schoolgirls were abducted by Boko Haram insurgents. According to Kemi, she was in Chibok for 24 hours to investigate the missing girls and she has come to a conclusion that the whole #BringBackOurGirls campaign is based on a fraud.
20140508_092426
Kemi Omololu-Olunloyo who is the News director of HNN Africa and is based in Ibadan, Oyo State Nigeria, has actively been a part of the campaign in her state by going for protests and rallies.
On her blog Kemi asks a few questions to back her theory that the girls are not missing. She also uploaded a video on YouTube, emphasizing her thoughts after her visit to Chibok where she says there is no media there because everyone is afraid.

FACT: This is my school ID St Teresa’s College, Oke-Ado, Ibadan, Nigeria in 1976. Where are the #ChibokGirls? #Bringbackourgirls My family knows about education in Nigeria. I even called Sister Agnes Hassan on how she would have handled this. I went to a boarding school too. Did the Christian girls get ushered out of Chibok by CAN and other entities after learning about the Abuja bombings? Was that their way of leaving Northern Nigeria? Is that why WAEC could not release records due to confusion? Is that why Principal Asabe Kwabare did not show up in Abuja with the parents and kids supposed to be there with her at Nigerian First Lady Patience Jonathan’s meeting?
Is there a Ministry of Education in #Borno state #Nigeria? The Governor Shettima should really resign 4 his own good now. Why is there so much panic in Northern Nigeria with the governors over there rushing to Abuja to STOP the US help? The US now wants to use DNA to match children to parents when there are possibly no children missing and parents talking. Who burned down the school and when?

Who burned down the students records? Are there any missing girls or we just believe Shekau of#BokoHaram because we fear him? CAN and WAEC need to be grilled. FACT: Over 200 missing girls in Nigeria and authorities don’t have a single picture out on TV screens.
President was begging parents 4 them. There are 800 missing women in one community in Canada (Aborigine) and all the authorities have are their pictures. Anyone can burn a school down and keep their children home then say they’ve been abducted, won’t submit pics and stall investigation
YES! I went to the Oyo state march as media and solidarity purposes as this principal acknowledged that she may have handed the kids to fake military men.
If they are missing, I want them found, if they are NOT, they need to explain what happened as the principal reported them all missing. Where are the fathers and what happened to the boys. It is a mixed school or the boys didn’t board?
The viral video of a woman stoned to death via Sharia was an old 2008 video and that is not Boko Haram. That is Sharia law that Hausas perform and she reportedly committed adultery as a child bride or something. Northern Nigeria is getting out of control.
My Investigation #HNNInvestigates Continues.

Our Analysis of Chibok and an Nostradamus Postulation.

Dummies Sold, Dummies bought....bought in foreign currency.

The opposition played a dangerous and risky game and Goodluck Jonathan like that TV program by Amaka Igwe of the 80's has said "checkmate".

It is Ome Omenai who asked

"If the Chibok girls are not missing, why is this administration allowing the world to get involved?"

This administration KNOWS these girls are not "missing". If you listen to the first Lady in that "only you that waka come" video, you will see that she was very suspicious that grieving parents may not exist hence "only the principal waka come"

The administration, for it not to be said to be "denying" the kidnapping, or "wishing it away" or covering up, through the police and in the nationwide broadcast BEGGED PARENTS WHOSE CHILDREN ARE MISSING TO COME TO THE POLICE STATION.

That has to be a first in history where you that lost your 16 years daughter has to be begged to come to police station when in reality the police station should be a beehive of activities for grieving parents.

Even the Borno government house and Local government headquarters of Chibok, there is graveyard like silence. It definitely does not look like 276 girls are missing.

The human instinct where grieving people naturally move towards each other, if only to hear news of their daughters is absent. PARENTS ARE IN THEIR HOUSES WAITING FOR NEWS???? Who is calling them with it or do they have CNN?

I know how Police Station in Sapele would be if "gbomogbomo" stole 5 children. Parents and well-wishers will sleep in government house or police station just to hear if there is news on their girls.

So why is Borno State govt and the opposition selling this dummy?

Goodluck Ebele Jonathan HAS NEVER BEEN AS MALIGNED ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND ESPECIALLY WORLD MEDIA LIKE THIS.

Even papers that used to support him here, since Obiageli Ezekwesili's march with false parents and hired actresses, the attack has been relentless as they say "he is doing nothing about the girls"

I have asked severally "How do you look for kidnapped people when the parents have not made "missing person's report"

But the foreign media likes bad stories of Africa and in fact bad stories worldwide. Notice if anyone is interviewed and he does not attack this administration, the interviewer quickly says "thank you for your time" and ends it.

So the APC and Borno governments looking to totally discredit the SOE (state of emergency) has sold you all a dummy and you all opened your pockets and paid.

Then GEJ, that man Ogbemudia told you "is more brilliant than many of us put together" has absorbed the attack and very denting blow for a loss of goodwill to gaining of actual position of strength.

While his "Queen" Patience GEJ was engaging opposition "bishops" and "knights" and getting laughed at for her linguistic semblance to Mrs. Malaprop, GEJ "castled".

The US that has been looking for a way to put foot and soldiers down on sub-saharan Africa has finally done it. Now they will have an eternal post in Sub-saharan Africa and even if later they say they are gone, all what is needed for them to arrive in 12 hours and encamp in case of global conflict will have been put in place.

Should world war start, Russia cannot win the race to Sub-saharan oil of Nigeria and now Ghana. They also cannot use the soils for food growing as Hitler had planned for Africa.

DUMMIES SOLD, DUMMIES BOUGHT....bought in foreign currency.

Nigerians in some inexplicable pausing of the use of their reasoning faculties, failed to really listen to SHEKAU in that video where he never mentioned Chibok or WAEC. He does not boast of the hours he took to arrange the transportation and the amount of girls he took.

In the video he said "we will soon begin to take ..." meaning the video is not about Chibok or the massive female heist which has already taken place. He speaks of a future event.

But CNN and foreign media put "we will sell the girls" on a loop

DUMMIES SOLD DUMMIES BOUGHT

And all the villagers say they did not see trucks...many enough to lift 234 girls from a very quiet unindustrial town...so many truck nor hearfd any gunshots.

Nigerians do not bother to wonder if it is this very incidence he is talking about or the speech could have been any other attack.

HE TALKED ABOUT 9 AND TWELVE YEARS OLD GIRLS and not 18 and 16...even 20.

He Shekau chooses the less lucrative alternative of selling little girls to the poor, in and around Chad and Cameroun to a huge ransom and release of held brothers in prisons.....something GEJ would have agreed to easily for the safety of 176 girls.

And that representative or who that is quick to tell us, "the girls are now in Chad and Cameroon. They have been sold for 2,000 naira. They have been married off" even before Boko Haram made contact. EVEN BEFORE SHEKAU MADE CONTACT via youtube video.

Did they in anyway see this SHEKAU video and play their game to the script he had already written? Like chess moves read from a Bobby Fisher text, did they totally adapt their play to pre-arranged moves?

Well... We have looked at this thing a million and one ways and in our Analysis, AS AT TODAY, We are 70 percent certain there was no kidnapping.

We sit back and congratulate the president. What a wonderful capitalization on a gambit.

Now he has the US army at his disposal in his country. ANY COUP STANDS FOILED.....yes, coups are by no more than 100 soldiers......easy for the US army to take back any radio station they capture for their broadcast and easy to zoom in and bomb and snipe and quell any attack on the villa.WEI SAID GEJ "CASTLED"

Then also, should the Niger Deltans decide to break the country at the constitutional conference, should things escalate. Should a civil war ensue, AMERICA IS ALREADY HERE.

Russia almost beat them to the Nigerian oil during the Biafran war. But not anymore AMERICA IS HERE.

DUMMIES SOLD, DUMMIES BOUGHT...IN FOREIGN CURRENCY.

America called the Northern governors and flew them over.

How the US meets provincial leaders of a country shows the deep division in Nigeria
. Mumu governors went, insulted their country and president and America joined them and said "yes. Abuja refused to support Northern governors push for education and employment" when Abuja has built more almajiri schools than the state governments. When Abuja has built so many universities on their soil than in the south. When Abuja chose their soils to begin the rice revolution that made the Agric minister Akinwumi "Forbes Man of The Year." proving the success of the farming initiatives: when the groundnut is being grown again....something their own Northern leaders and governors could not do.... farming that is also a State Government function....even local government....

YEt America spoke HIGHLY in their favour and they are happy. Yes, Obama and John Kerry has heard their argument how GEJ cheated them of their one term agreement and RIGHT TO RULE.....

DUMMIES SOLD, DUMMIES BOUGHT....IN HARD HARD CURRENCY

Now America can monitor even the anti-Israel terrorist group's activities in Nigeria. HAMAS and AL QAEDA have lost their vacation spot.

But they should not have brought attention to Nigeria where a lot of their financing was going on under the radar. They were planting even CENTRAL BANK GOVERNORS and STATE GOVERNORS who all regularly visit Sudan, the African mother-bed of terrorism.

But someone got greedy. Someone got stupid. They decided to smoke weed where they keep guns and drugs and the police have followed the smell and now are here....over stupid weed/marijuana smoking. Nigeria ultimately is lost. A stronghold, a bastion is lost. AMERICA IS HERE....

YES AMERICA IS HERE, RUSSIA IS NOT

DUMMIES SOLD DUMMIES BOUGHT...IN FOREIGN CURRENCY.

So everyone, sit back and watch as Nigeria finally is no longer the Beautiful Bride of International politics. No more are we "unaligned". Like SHEKAU's "kidnapped" girls, we have been married off to a side...AMERICA.

But our heart are with the "pawns" which are the girls....every girl in Northern Nigeria, hoping...praying they can get to the 8 rank and become the "queens" they should be.Hoping no one "sacrifices" them.

For those who think Shettima is incapable of atrocities which may include kidnapping and bombing, his former governor and former benefactor and co APC member says bombings in Borno is not by Boko Haram but by him...SHETTIMA.

Is "kidnap" by him too?

Stupid gambit by Shettima and APC. Wonderful capitalization by GEJ....Gary Kasparov-esque. AMERICA IS HERE> GEJ IS SAFErrrrr

DUMMIES SOLD DUMMIES BOUGHT....IN FOREIGN CURRENCY

TO BE CONTINUED.. WAIT FOR THE PART TWO OF THE DUMMIES SOLD

Boko Haram Leader Shekau Releases Video On Abduction Of Chibok Girls'

The leader of Boko Haram sect, Imam Abubakar Shekau, released a video today in which he claimed responsibility for abducting the Nigerian school girls, and said he will soak all Nigerian soil with Christian blood, and Muslims opposing them, whom he described as infidels.

The video lasts 56 minutes and 58 seconds, and shows Iman Shekau speaking from a script, surrounded by heavily armed fighters, backed by an armored personnel carrier, and two other armed vehicles.

Iman Shekau said, "I am the one that took your girls. Are you the one that created the girls? I will sell them in the market. I have my own market of selling human beings. It is Allah, the owner that instructed me to sell. I will sell the girls."

And he added, "It is Allah that instructed us, until we soak the ground of Nigeria with Christian blood and so called Muslims contradicting Islam. After we have killed, killed, killed, and get fatigue and wondering on what to do with smelling of their corpses, smelling of Obama, Bush and Jonathan worried us then we will open prison and be imprisoned the rest. Infidels have no value."

234 Nigerian schoolgirls, aged between 15-18, were abducted from a remote school in Chibok village, Borno State, in Northeast Nigeria on April 15. The girls and young women came from schools in Izge, Lassa, Ashigashiya and Warabe to do final exams because other the schools were shut in Borno state because of attacks by Boko Haram.

Iman Shekau said the sects friends are those in Afghanistan, Mali, Yemen and Pakistan, and not those Arabs who just bragged with their colors but deal with Americans and the West. Shekau said there is slavery in Islam, contrary to his critics, noting that Prophet Muhammed took slaves during Badr war in Hejaz region of western Arabia in present day Saudi Arabia.

Shekau said, "Just because I took girls in Western school they are worried. I say they (the girls) should desert the school. They should go and marry. Stupid people. Talking about human rights and democracy. Nonsense. People that are doing same sex marriage and saying they are leaders."

And he added, "I will imprison Jonathan's daughter, any one that turn to Islam will be saved. For me anyone that embraces Islam is my own. Stupid Jonathan, you will be surprise. Until the land is soaked with blood."
watch video here..

Later he said, "This is a war against Christians and democracy and their constitution, we have not started, we will be in Abuja, and in your state. This war is against Christians, I mean Christians, generally the infidels. Allah says we should finish them when we get them."

Shekau boasted in the video that he has no business with infidel's money, "I have no time with your trillion. I am working for Allah and will die for it. No one can stop me. You killed Mohammed Yusuf. Are you not saying he is even better than Shekau? Even if you kill me, other fighters will rise better than me, I am nothing and worthless before Allah who I am working for. You are sitting with Christians and saying we are one, saying there is no difference. We are not one with infidels."

Later he said, "It is a lie, in fact you suppose to wash and re-wash a plate Christian eats food before you eat as Muslims. You know all these things and you are contradicting Islam. Are Christians the people we should play with? They killed us in Shendam, Zangon Katab and all the places. It is either you are with us or you are with them, and when we see you, we will harvest your neck with knife."

He cursed Islamic political leaders the late Malam Aminu Kano, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, and Islamic scholar, Usman Dan Fodio as infidels for working and accepting democracy and constitution, and added, "We are not ignorant of all that happened."

The mass abduction three weeks ago, and the Nigerian military's failure to rescue the girls and young women, has roused national and international outrage with protests in major cities in Nigeria, and across the world.

A number of girls have escaped who said their captors identified themselves as Boko Haram.

Nigerian Police Commissioner, Tanko Lawan told reporters the number of escaped girls is 53.

Robbery attack on Mile 2 route; Photos

Another robbery attack happened last night on the Mile 2 Bridge, Lagos. A woman in her car was attacked, the robbers broke her car window and robbed her in traffic. Motorists in the area say the robbery incident is becoming one too many and are asking the government to do something about it.

"We Will Kill All Christians" Boko Haram Leader Abubakar Shekau Declares:

The leader of the violent Islamic insurgent sect, Boko Haram, Sheik Abubakar Shekau, has come out to declare that the war he is waging in Nigeria is actually a war against Christians and Christianity in the country.
Despite what many Moslem religious leaders have been making Nigerians to believe that the insurgents are not fighting for Islam, Shekau has declared that what he is actually fighting for is to make Nigeria an Islamic country and that he and his group will kill all non Moslems.

Shortly after he released a video claiming responsibility for the abduction of the female students of the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, Shekau released another video, declaring an outright war against Christians in the country.

He also boasted of being in league with the likes of Afghanistan, Mali, Yemen and Pakistan, whose life ambition is to make the whole world an Islamic country.

This is what Shekau said in the video he released:
This is a war against Christians and democracy and their constitution; we have not started, we will be in Abuja, and in every state in Nigeria. This war is against Christians, I mean Christians, generally the infidels. Allah says we should finish them when we get them.

I have no time with your trillion. I am working for Allah and will die for it. No one can stop me. You killed Mohammed Yusuf. Are you not saying he is even better than Shekau?

Even if you kill me, other fighters will rise better than me; I am nothing and worthless before Allah who I am working for. You are sitting with Christians and saying we are one, saying there is no difference. We are not one with infidels.

We are friends with Afghanistan, Mali, Yemen and Pakistan, and we are going to wipe out the Christians
Are Christians the people we should play with? It is either you are with us or you are with them, and when we see you, we will harvest your neck with knife.

Human parts dealer issues price list in Lagos…says skull sells for N20,000

The suspects

Buys bones N2,000, intestines, liver for N1,000; resells N5,000

Emotion ran high, yesterday, at the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, Lagos after a 54-year-old grandmother told a bewildered crowd that she sold human skull for N20,000. The suspect, Sukuratu Salami, who was paraded alongside a cemetery guard and two others, were arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, in Joju area of Sango Ota, with a human head, intestines, bones, kidney and other human parts. Salami, who admitted to have been into human parts business for a year, said she started as a herbs dealer.

Greed
Narrating how she ventured into the business, the mother of three said: “A herbalist approached me last year and demanded for human parts. When he told me how much they buy the parts, I was tempted.
“I approached one Tantoloun, who works in a grave yard. He sold a skull for N10,000 and I sold it in return for N20,000. Greed made me to continue until I was arrested. “I buy pieces of bones for N2,000, liver and intestines for N1,000 each and resell for N5,000 or more depending on the buyer’s bargaining power. “I am not a killer. I have never killed anyone. I only request for decomposed human parts. I needed the money to feed my three children of ages 30, 27 and 23 respectively. “Those who patronize me are herbalists and trado-medical practitioners. The parts are used to prepare concoction for sick children. So far, I have only sold 10 human skulls.”She promised never to go back to the illicit business again if left off the hook. On his part, the cemetery guard, Rasheed Tantoloun, from Oyo State, said he usually dig dead bodies out of their graves with the aid of one Ibrahim, whom he hired.

He alleged that his employer instructed them to exhume dead bodies that have stayed long in order to get spaces for fresh ones. He said: “Anytime old corpses are exhumed, we usually collect the parts and sell to ready buyers who are usually agbo sellers (herbs dealers). “My salary is N5,000 a month but since I started doing the business, I made three times more than the amount. We also dug corpses buried without caskets.” Another suspect, Waheed Ibrahim, an Arabic teacher, said he was paid N3,000 for exhuming dead bodies. According to him, “we usually tamper with dead bodies buried without caskets and those whose relatives never showed up after burial. My job is to exhume and dismember the bodies and at the end of which I would be paid N3,000.”

How they were arrested
The suspects reportedly met their waterloo after operatives of SARS, who got wind of their alleged dealings, posed as buyers. The state Police Commissioner, Umar Manko, who paraded the suspects, said the command took interest in the case following the mysterious disappearance of persons.
According to him, “detectives led by the SARS commander, Abba Kyari, posed as buyers and bought a human head from Salami at N120,000. “After arresting the suspects, Salami’s house was searched during which a human head, liver, intestines and other parts were found. We picked interest in this case because of the disappearances of people. With their arrest, we hope that we’ll get to the root of these disappearances.

“We discovered that most of these bodies are fresh. It is criminal to deal in human parts. A few weeks back, Soka Forest was discovered in Ibadan. As you can see, this crime happens all over
