You Cannot Disrespect Jonathan And Ask For Respect In Return – Gulak Tells Five Northern Govs, Amaechi

 Northern-governors-visit-to-Amaechi-in-Port-Harcourt-480x300

Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak, on Monday accused the five northern Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors, who recently embarked on nation-wide consultations to douse the political tension in the country, of disrespecting President Goodluck Jonathan.

The state governors are Sule Lamido (Jigawa), Rabiu Kwankwaso (Kano), Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto), Babangida Aliyu (Niger) and Murtala Nyako (Adamawa). Gulak, however, included Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State in the list of disrespectful state governors.

Gulak, speaking through his Political Affairs Assistant, Godwin Akpovie, was reacting to a statement in which Gov. Lamido made reference to him as “a boy.”

It would be recalled that the Jigawa governor had taken the presidential aide to the cleaners for asking that the differences between the five governors and the President be settled internally instead of embarking on national consultations.

But apparently taken aback by the statement, Lamido described it as “offensive and disrespectful” coming from that “boy”, Gulak.

But Gulak on Monday wondered why the governor was asking for respect when he and his other colleagues had not shown same to the President.

He said, “The other day, in company with some other governors, led by Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, they (the five northern governors) walked leisurely into a function in which President Jonathan was already seated.

“Is that not an affront to the office of Mr. President? How many of them will allow their commissioners to walk into a function in which they are already seated?

“As part of resolving their so-called differences with Mr. President, they are demanding the sacking of some key personnel in Mr. President’s administration, including Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, the National Chairman of the Peoples Demoratic Party.

“Again, can anybody, including Mr. President, order them to appoint so and so individuals as commissioners in their respective states?”

He also accused the governors of keeping quiet when the interim chairman of the All Progressive Congress, Chief Bisi Akande, called Jonathan a ‘kindergarten’ President.

“If l may ask; are they still members of the PDP? If they still are, why are they more critical of the President than even the opposition?

“Respect is reciprocal. Anyone who wants to propagate equity must come with clean hands. You cannot demand respect when you refuse to accord same to a higher office.

“Besides, what is disrespectful in advising that it is more decent to explore and exhaust all internal mechanisms to resolve any perceived grievances?” He queried.

Protests As Policeman Kills Okada Rider, Shoots Woman

photo

There was pandemonium in Ladega, Ojubode area of Ikorodu, Lagos State, on Tuesday after a policeman attached to the Rapid Response Squad allegedly killed a commercial motorcycle rider, popularly called okada rider.

The policeman, identified simply as Haruna, in company of three of his colleagues, had arrested the okada riders for allegedly breaking the state traffic law. He opened fire on the rider, identified only as Lekan, when he resisted the arrest.
It was learnt that a passerby, Modikat Babatunde, was also hit by the bullet.
Chairman, Motorcycle Operators Association of Lagos State, Ikorodu Branch, Mr. Kayode Jimoh, said, “Around 2.30pm, four policemen attached to RRS came in a white Toyota Hilux van and parked around Ladega junction. The police driver remained inside the van while three policemen, identified as Haruna, Ayodele and Ismaila, alighted from the vehicle.
“The policemen were trying to seize the bike from Lekan but he resisted. Haruna suddenly cocked his rifle and opened fire, killing him on the spot. The bullet also injured a woman who was close by.”
It was learnt that the incident compounded the usual traffic snarl in the area as colleagues of the deceased protested the killing of their colleague.
The killer policeman and his team were said to have fled after the incident.
The second victim, Babatunde, it was learnt, sustained a superficial injury on her hand.
Babatunde said, “I went to collect N50,000 as part of my contribution to a cooperative society when I heard gunshots. The bullet hit me in the hand but it did not penetrate.
“Unfortunately, in the pandemonium, the N50,000 was stolen. The government must see to it that those policemen are brought to justice.”
Jimoh lamented the extortion by policemen, adding that he had complained many times to the police authorities about the excesses of RRS policemen.
He  said it was unfortunate that many okada riders had been killed in the state by policemen since the enforcement of traffic law began last year and no policeman had been arrested.
He said, “Haruna and his colleagues are very notorious for extortion, most times they don’t even arrest errant okada riders. They go to places that are not restricted and seize the motorcycles.
“They then take the okada to Agric area of Ikorodu and urge you to negotiate the release of the impounded okadas. They usually extort between N10, 000 and N20,000 from us before releasing our bikes.”
It was learnt that the commander, RRS, ACP Hakeem Odumosu, came to the area to restore normalcy. Odumosu was said to have promised the irate mob that justice would be served.
Soldiers were also said to have arrived the area to assist the police.

Obafemi Martins Makes Foray Into Music

900387_Obafemi_Martins_Yeoal_jpg3b0f8f2fc8ff6aefa3a70026d782d821

If all goes as planned, Nigerian international footballer, Obafemi Martins, will release a hiphop album by the end of the year.
A studio rat who did not want his name in print and is privy to the album project said the forward for Seattle Sounders FC of the United States has completed work on at least three tracks for the album that is heavy on the Nigerian genre of hip-hop.
“He is passionate about the album and has been working on it at two recording studios, one in Surulere and the other in the Lekki area of Lagos,” the source said.
Asked if he has any idea why the footballer who is apparently doing well in his football career would choose to do music, he said Obafemi Martins has always loved music.
“As a matter of fact, he told me that before the big football leagues around the world came calling, he used to be a rapper. Music was his first love eve before football came along,” the source said.
He could not be reached for comment as at press time but the man described as his mentor, Mr. Femi Fasetire, who is a sports journalist confirmed that the footballer likes music “like most people”. He however said that he is not aware that the player is working on an album.
“Perhaps that is because entertainment is not my line since I am a sports journalist,” Fasetire said. There is no doubt that millions of Obafemi Martin’s football fans cannot wait for the release of this album, which our source said is still untitled and which songs are basically performed in English.
Other Nigerian footballers who have gone the music way include recently: Michel Obi, (who now owns a music label, Matured Money Minds, MMM), as well as Celestine Babayaro and Jonathan Akpoborie.

Mo Cheddah Talks About Her Nu.de Photo Scandal

 Mo Cheddah pix
Rap singer, Mocheddah, got to chat with Nonye of PunchNg about her life and her career.
And during the interview, her nude photo scandal was brought up.
You remember that some time ago, this nude picture of petite female singer, (pic above) Mo Cheddah was posted on her Instagram account. And trust Nigerians who expect so much from their artistes, Mo got so lashed for it.

Read below what Mo got to say about the picture she "mistakenly" sent to a male artiste.

  • You have been off the scene for a while…
Yes. It is true. But I went back into the studios some months ago and I started recording. I have shot a couple of videos and I am still shooting. Very soon, everything will be unveiled.

  • You went back to school when your career was blooming. Why?
I was already in school. I started music when I was in my JSS 2. I have been doing music for a long time. My mum was scared. She wanted me to go to school. She told me that if I must do music, I must go to school. So I couldn’t just compromise that request. I was in my first year when I did my hit track. But it never crossed my mind not to go to school. It wasn’t an option.
  •  Was it easy coping with fame and your studies?
It wasn’t easy. I was young. I wasn’t old and grey and tired. School wasn’t going to kill me. God was just faithful. There were times I would be so tired from the shows and recording sessions. I would have an exam and I would also need to travel to perform somewhere. I would be an hour late for my exams; I would read on the plane. In all this, I worked through them. Even my classmates asked me how I was able to do this. I loved it all. I was grateful for it and I was happy because I had work at that young age.

  • When you went back to school, some other female artistes came into the scene and somehow, everybody forgot about you. So would you think it was a wise decision continuing with your studies at the time you did?
You cannot live your life for people. We are all living our lives. I am where I want to be. I am just having fun and I am not paying attention to what is going on around me. It is all about me. I am happy.

  • You were still coping with fame when you got the SoulMate brand ambassadorship. How were you able to manage?
I still do not know. I am where I am today. It is just His grace and He has been faithful. He has never left me hanging.
  • The way you are mentioning God, one may think you have become an evangelist…
But we are all evangelists.
  • As an ‘evangelist’ how come you posted your bikini picture on your Instagram page? A lot of people even felt you uploaded that picture as publicity stunt…
I am not going to say anything about that picture.
  • Showbiz comes with a lot of challenges, has it been easy for you?
Earlier on, it was tough when you open the papers and magazines and people are talking about you. It got to me. But with time, I had to develop a thick skin. With age comes confidence and confidence comes with wisdom. It now becomes what you think of yourself and what your family thinks about you. I got a tough skin over the years. People would always talk about you. It doesn’t happen to you alone. It comes with the territory. There are some people who they don’t even get to hear about. For them to talk about you and even ‘cook’ up stories, it then means you are special. I see a silver lining when I hear stuff about me. I always move on.
  • Was it your ‘thick skin’ that made you to overcome the scandal of your alleged nude picture that went viral?
I don’t know. I don’t remember anything about that. I am not going to defend myself. I don’t always have to do that. People will always talk about you. They will always pick on meaningless things. As a human being, you have to move on.
  • But really, were those pictures yours?
I will not answer that question.
  • Did that episode, whether true or false, have any effect on you and your career?
At that point, I had grown a thick skin. I wasn’t depressed. It is just like you waking up and somebody is telling you that you did what you know that you did.  Such thing can’t get to you. You don’t have to defend yourself; you just have to move on. Nothing has ever come in between my music and I. Nothing. My school didn’t even affect my music.  I am where I am because it is where God wants me to be and it is where I chose to be. Life is all about knowing when to slow down and knowing when to move on.  I started music so early and there was a time I was just going on shows, shows and shows. God blessed me so much and I achieved so much at an early age. I had to go into other things. I am an entrepreneur. I am a young lady growing into a young woman. I want to experience the world. That I have not released an album in a couple of years does not mean I am off the scene or that I am no longer relevant. I am an ambassador for brands and I get paid for that. Because I am not on TV doesn’t mean I have been buried.
  • Why did you choose rap music?
I don’t always plan what I want to do. I always do what I want. When rap came along, it just came. I wasn’t a rapper. I didn’t plan it. I figured I could rap and I decided to go along with it. I wanted to mess with people’s heads. Rapping is just speaking your mind and making it sound as hard as possible.  Mo is the singer and Mochedda is my alter ego.  Music can’t be put in a box. There are different expressions. I am just an artiste. I can choose to express myself in any way.
  • Do we see you singing and not rapping soon?
It depends on what we agree to do at the end of the day. I have so many songs now. This new album is about the new me. It is about me as a lady. I like the album already. My fan base has grown. They are no longer 16 years old. They grew just the way I have grown.
  • Is it because you feel you’ve grown up that you left your label?
I will only say that your secondary school will not be mad at you because you grew and got into the university. Your university will not be mad that you finished and got a job. There is time for everything. I didn’t have any misunderstanding with them. I don’t owe them any album. We are very cool. They are my brothers. I am now on my own. I have my own record label, Cheddah Music. I will soon release my album. You can’t rush music.
  • Are you sure you can compete with the girls in the industry now?
I am so happy for them. I do music for me. I do music for people to hear me and appreciate the music. No matter how hungry you are, I will not give you raw food. I will boil it and make sure it is ready. I am not in a race.
  • Who are you currently dating?
I have a boyfriend. I will not like to say who I am dating, but really, I am in a relationship.

  • What kind of relationship do you have with Eldee?
I will not say anything.

Wizkid Lashes Out At Fan Who Told Him To Go Back To School

 ryu

So, here’s what happened. Wizkid had put up the picture below on his Instagram page, saying he was to perform at a wedding, but he had a hangover.

Here is the grammar..
w (1)
Unfortunately, he gbagauned by posting ‘an’ hangover.
When, for reasons best known to him, this Wizkid fan @Spruzman asked Wizzy to correct himself. Then he said it was cos of errors like this that Wizkid needed to get back in school.
Obviously, that statement pissed Wizkid off. So Wizzy hit him with a simple but huge reply.
Trust Wizkid’s fans to defend their star, cos many of them pounced on @Spruzman, and severely lashed out at him too.

Only a very few felt Wizkid was wrong to have said that to a fan who was just teasing him.

Angry Fans Stone Wizkid’s Porsche At VFS Global, Lekki

Angry Fans Stone Wizkid’s Porsche At VFS Global, Lekki

Being a celebrity comes with much responsibilities than one envisage, of course some include parting away some naira notes as situation presents especially when celebs get stocked in the midst of  loving fans.

Ayodeji Balogun a.k.a Wizkid was today stoned by angry fans at the VFS Global Services, Lekki phase 1 over the Azonto Crooner’s arrogant attitude and his refusal to part away with some naira notes despite the much accolades he got from the cheering crowd who were so elated to catch a glimpse of their Superstar.

Wizkid who was dressed in a White T-shirt and a Red Sofa Shoe came in a black Porshce Cayenne with covered number plates, the starboy who must have been sneaked into the VFS Compound came out into the waiting hands of a large number of cheering fans who wanted to shake and snap pictures with Wizkid.

Obviously they wanted some naira notes as well #TypicalNaijaWay We confirmed that Wizkid who must have had his mind made up came outside the VFS Compound where he had gone to submit travelling documents for Canada and shunned the cheering crowd.

All efforts to get Wizkid to snap pictures, shake or even show “some love” financially to the cheering crowd fell on deaf ears as Starboi completely ignored everyone as he walked arrogantly into the waiting Porsche Cayenne. Witness at the scene confirmed that Wizkid’s silence and arrogant attitude got the cheering fans pissed hence why they resulted into stoning the BET Award winner as he made to drive out.

Unfortunately for Wizkid, one of the many stones caught his car side glass but the Pakurumo crooner did not wait a second. The angry fans who complained bitterly placed a comparison between Wizkid and Durosoke Crooner, Olamide. They argued that Olamide would never ignore his fans as he constantly relates with the street hence why he’s never been mobbed or attacked.

We hope the damage done to Wizkid’s car won’t cost him more thousands than he would have threw at the crowd waiting for him, some 20k could have saved Wizkid the embarrassment. Wizkid is yet to official comment about this thou.

Faith! Pastor Loses Wife, 3 Kids To Auto Crash On Saturday, Preaches In Church On Sunday

accident vehicle on fire
At least eight persons including a Pastor’s wife, Pastor (Mrs) Hellen Samuel, her three children, Saviour, Ensigne and Purity, were reportedly killed in an auto crash that happened Saturday night, in Katagbegi village of Niger State when a bus owned by the Niger State Transport Authority they were travelling in ran into an articulated truck at a bad spot along Bida-Minna road.
The family of Pastor Abraham Samuel of the Potter’s Porch Church, Minna and the other passengers in the bus were said to be travelling from Lagos to Minna when the crash occurred at about 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Eyewitnesses said the bus caught fire shortly after the accident, making rescue efforts extremely difficult. One passenger was however rescued, but not without serious burns.
Confirming the accident, Special Adviser to the Niger State Government on Emergency and Disaster Management, Mohammed Shaba, said eight bodies had been recovered from the scene of the accident, even though the bus was believed to be carrying 18 passengers at the time of the accident, adding that the corpses of the deceased had been deposited at the Minna General Hospital.
In a great show of faith, the Pastor who lost his family was seen preaching during yesterday’s church service after which he announced the demise of his wife and three children.
Members of the church were said to have screamed at the news, with tears rolling down many cheeks uncontrollably, but the Pastor remained calm with elders of the church around him.
The calm but sober Pastor Samuel said of his dead family; “My wife and the kids are resting.”

Super Eagles’ Head Coach, Stephen Keshi has invited 24 home-based professionals and 18 overseas-based players to camp ahead of next month’s 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying game against Malawi in Calabar.
Only five of the 24 home boys will eventually join the 18 overseas-based stars for the big game, as well as for the international friendly against the Etalons of Burkina Faso in Kaduna on Tuesday, 10th September.

Usual suspects, goalkeeper Chigozie Agbim, defenders Azubuike Egwuekwe, Solomon Kwambe and Benjamin Francis, as well as midfielders Sunday Mba and forward Muhammad Gambo headline the home boys’ contingent. Defensive pillar Godfrey Oboabona has been called, but will come in as an overseas-based professional if he is able to conclude his transfer to Rizespor of Turkey in a few days.
All 24 home boys are expected at the Bolton White Apartments, Abuja on Sunday, 24th August, while the 18 Europe-based stars are expected to arrive unfailingly in Calabar on Monday, 2nd September.
“We are calling up 24 home boys in order to be able to identify new players for the 2014 African Nations Championship, for which we have already qualified,” said Keshi.
Goalkeepers Vincent Enyeama and Austin Ejide, defenders Efe Ambrose and Elderson Echiejile, midfielders John Mikel Obi, Ogenyi Onazi and Victor Moses and forwards Emmanuel Emenike, Ahmed Musa and Brown Ideye top the list of the Europe-based.
Two-goal hero against South Africa in last week’s Nelson Mandela Challenge, Uche Nwofor retains his slot while Spain-based midfielder Nosa Igiebor returns for the first time since the Africa Cup of
Nations finals. England-based Shola Ameobi and Lokomotiv Moscow’s Obinna Nsofor also return.
Nigeria, on nine points, need only to avoid defeat against seven-pointer Malawi at the U. J. Esuene Stadium on 7th September, to reach the 10-team final elimination round of the African qualifying race for next year’s showpiece in Brazil.
