Indian Wolf Sisters Suffering From Rare Werewolf Syndrome -
Three of the six Sangli sisters of India are afflicted with Werewolf Syndrome, also known as Hypertrichosis or Ambras Syndrome.
This is a condition that is so rare, itaffects about 1 in a billion people on the planet. Werewolf syndrome is characterized by abnormal and excessive hair growth on the body. It’s a genetic mutation, in which cells that usually inhibit hair growth are left “switched on.
” The Sangli Sisters, residing in central India, acquired their hypertrichosis from their father. The three Sangli sisters who have werewolf syndrome – Savita (23 years old), Monisha (18 years old), and Savitri (16 years old), are forced to use special creams each day, or else their hair regrows very fast.
Their mother hopes to fund laser removal surgery for them, but the cost of such surgery is currently out of reach (about $7,000 per person).
Their mother recalls the day she was forced to marry when she was only 12 yearsold, not knowing about her husband’s affliction until the day of the wedding.
Documentary filmmaker Sneh Gupta wants to make a movie featuring the Sangli sisters, who hope to become free of their werewolf syndrome so they can eventually get married.
Other people besides the Sangli sisters who suffer from werewolf syndrome include Julia Pastrana, who was a sideshow performer in the 19th century, Supatra Sasuphan, a Thai girl who in 2011 was named world’s hairiest girl by Guinness, and the famous family of Burma, of which the disease spanned 4 generations.
I really feel sorry for them...

The Problem with Ubah – Obi’s Aide
The Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Peter Obi on Media and Publicity,
Mr. Valentine Obienyem has attributed what he called the problem with
Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah to learning wrong things from those he interacts with
and for allowing his aides to speak unrestrainedly on issues that could
be better handled. Obienyem said this in a release made available to
journalist in Abuja yesterday in reaction to a statement credited to
Chief Ifeanyi Ubah, questioning the rationale behind the recent
presentation of cheques of 2.5 Billion Naira to all the secondary
schools in the State for their rehabilitation and a jeep each to all
the traditional rulers in the State.
Obienyem said that while Dr.
Ubah had learnt to bring Gov. Obi into any nonsense he uttered or his
aide uttered on his behalf, he had forgotten to learn from those
mentoring him, that even among worst "enemies", there is time to
condemn and time to commend.
Obienyem expressed surprise that Ubah condemned the distribution of
cheques to schools and the vehicles to traditional rulers to enhance
their functions, insisting that his action has proved rightly as people
speculated, that he is insensitive to what makes for a good and
prosperous state. "This tendency", Obienyem insisted, "questions his
suitability as a leader in fact or in dream."
As to Ubah's
position that Obi was forced to act because he himself gave money to
traditional rulers that attended his Sister's wedding, Obienyem said he
was not ready to amuse anybody by bringing traditional rulers into
disrepute, for that, as he said "is the only thing sensible people will
make out of Ubah's custic effusions."
Speaking further, he said
the over 600 vehicles from INNOSON motor manufacturing Company, Nnewi
for traditional Rulers, Schools and each town in the State was ordered
and paid for over a year ago to promote made in Anambra goods and could
not have been a carthathic reaction to any development. "In Nigeria
today, many react to Obi's ideas because of the fertility of their
conception. Much as the Governor is always willing to learn and even
emulate noble acts, but not from people utterly incapable of though,"
Obienyem concluded.

Earlier the Zonal Caretaker Committee Chairman, Filani, said the newly constituted council would be a major player in the party’s march towards regaining power in the zone.
‘’Since the inauguration of the caretaker committee, it has identified the challenges facing the party in the zone, we also worked hard to identify the areas of conflict in the different state chapters.
“Towards this end, we have sent visitation panels to all the six states of the zone and I am happy to say that not only have all the reports been submitted, a review panel has worked on them and submitted its report.
“We are now set to implement recommendations. I am confident that when implemented, our party will witness the re-birth which we badly need,’’ he noted.
In addition, he said, ‘’One of the ways of actualising our objective is to create appropriate organs which would assist the zonal committee to do its work more effectively.
“Towards this end, the Southwest PDP Stakeholders’ Forum, which we are inaugurating today, will be a major player in the party’s match towards regaining power in the zone, particularly, as we approach the governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states’’ By CHARLES KUMOLU
